   You Know What Is Cool? This Is Cool..

   Earthlings,

   Ekin is currently busy working in K.L and she rarely go back to Ipoh. That means, we don't have enough time to practise our new songs.

As the result, we have our old buddy that just came back from U.K to play the bass. He is Mr. Aie, a nice cool guy that used to play with the power pop quartet, Boneless Mahoney and the ex bassist for Ipoh's legendary indie rock band, Muck.

So, how cool is that? Check out our new songs in our next gigs near yr place yo.

   Free Love is going to United States!

   Free Love is going to sign up with a New York's label, the same label that signed Couple. Currently the band is busy with their upcoming shows and preparing for their Indonesian tour. Free Love will enter the studio to record their debut album for the label after they got back from the Indonesian tour. Free Love also will represent a new fashion label based in K.L called Pop Malaya to promote the labels stuff, look out for this one! The fashion label also will shoot a video clip for Free Love. Free Love's one hit wonder 'Indie Rock Darling' will be the theme for the fashion label. The shooting most possibly in March, for those who wanted to be the male and female model in the video clip please contact the band.

   Review on Free Love by Joe Kidd (The Pioneer of Malaysian Underground)

   Then one of the best bands currently active in the local scene now took over the stage and I went up and sat right upfront. Free Love’s nerve-centre is made up of two main guys from the Ipoh scene; Jay, who used to be with Bloody Mary, on guitar and vocals, and Ducktoi of Muck, on the other guitar. Free Love plays excellent late 80s American Indie Rock. Bits of Dinosaur Jr meets early Superchunk meets Yo La Tengo - a rare strain in the local indie rock climate in these climate, thus for me they were refreshing, and to an old early American indie-rock fan like me, Free Love is fun, fun, fun. One other thing, both Jay and Ducktoi rock! They jingle-jangled, jumped about and had all the moves, flailing with their guitars without turning it into a pose and top that with great fast pop ditties on par with all the big bands mentioned. For a small example, (Where Have You Been) My Indie Rock Darling is surely a hit awaiting airplay. I mean if they are living in Boston, that song will surely be a college rock radio smash. Or if they were around in 1994, they would put United Colours of Frustrations to shame. If you ever see them on a flyer, do go to the gig and check them out yourself. It’ll be an experience hard to forget.

    Free Love has just recorded a song called ‘Rock n’ Roll Slut’ on August 29 at The End of 

 the Recording studio, Singapore. We will be recording another song called

 ‘Hey ho, I love you!’ on October 8 for a compilation called ‘Radio Malaya’.

   Free Love currently has a new drummer; he played his first gig with us in Singapore on

 August 28. His name is Lopong he is the drummer for a post math-rock band called

 Sgt. Weener Arms. Our part time member, Smek the man behind Sgt. Weener Arms will join

 us for several events. You may see him rocking with Free Love in the near future.

  ‘Radio Malaya: Malaysia Independent Music’ compilation is another compilation produced by 

 Bodysurf Music. Bands that will be featured in the compilation such as Free Love, Muck,

 Elisebelle Tears, Couple, Harmacy, Bittersweet, Lucy in the Loo, Carburetor Dung, Kuchalana,

 Sgt. Weener Arms, Man Under Zero Effort, Furniture, Custom Daisy, Plague of Happiness &

 Missing Chapter. The compilation due to be in the market before or after Hari Raya. Check

 out your local records stores.

  Our partner in crime, Lucy in the Loo will be touring Indonesia on December 21 until

 December 26. There will be interviews with several Indonesia TV station and radio 

 programme.

   Latest news from Jay, he is fine and able to perform from day to day. He will open his

 bandaged hand this 19 Sept. at Hospital Besar Ipoh.

   Free Love is looking for a sessionist that is really compatible for Free Love's next show.

   This is the breaking and sad news for Free Love lovers. We will rest in this whole month

 due to accident that happen to Jay while working on Independent Day Out!showcasemthat held

 yesterday. Jay had serious injuries in his left hand and will return home today after a

 night in hospital. All nearby showcase have

 been cancelled and we are very-very sorry about it. We will try our best swiftly available

 in action soon.

   We had a new drummer after Herry quit the band in the middle of this month due to his

 other commitments.

 We asked Lopong from the experimental art-math-rock band Sgt. Weener Arms to join the band

 and he agree and we’re so fucking happy with it. We’ll update our new biography as soon as

 possible. Free Love first show with Lopong most possibly in a gig called ‘RNDM’ organized by

 Ginette of Astreal, Wallwork Records and Strait Records in Home, Singapore on August 28.

 Check out our gigs list for further details. We also will be contributing a song in a

 compilation for Singapore’s label The End of the Recording owned by Bobby.

   On the other hand, we got a lot of respond for our t-shirt. If there anyone really

 interested on buying the t-shirt please e-mail bodysurfmusic@email.com and ask Meor Muck

 about it as he is the person who handling the t-shirt. We also will put up a reviews for all

 our past gigs on this website. So, you guys can read about it soon and wait for our guest

 book also. Even though we know they will be some people who don’t like us and hate us will

 condemning us using fake names and post stupid messages we still want to put it anyway.
